Hi! We’re Marrit and Babette, a mother-daughter duo living in the countryside of Drenthe, and the creative minds behind Studio Smuck.
Marrit
For many years, I designed collections and new concepts at our family business, Jollein. After the company was sold, I decided to give my creativity a new direction and fully focus on my passion for interiors. With two professional degrees and several courses in interior design, I found my home in the world of living and styling. My signature style blends natural materials, calm colors, and refined elegance, enriched with a love for ethnic and Mediterranean design.
Babette
I grew up surrounded by creativity and developed a passion for styling at an early age. As a child, I loved building models of riding schools and constantly redecorating my room. Today, I’m studying spatial design and gaining experience through internships at various interior studios. I truly enjoy using my creativity to create beautiful designs that reflect every client’s unique living wishes.

Getting to know you
To really understand who you are and how we can help, we start with a relaxed, no-obligation meeting at your home. This gives us a chance to see your space up close and get a feel for your style. During our conversation, we’ll talk about your ideas, wishes, and the possibilities we see for your home. It’s important that you feel at ease, so we can build a smooth and open collaboration. If it feels like a good fit, we’ll take photos of your space and note down all the measurements. After our meeting, we’ll send you a tailored proposal.
Exploring the Preliminary Design
How can we make the most of your space while keeping your personal preferences at the heart of the design? When planning the layout, we consider the purpose of each room and how it will be used. There’s often more than one way to arrange a space, so we’ll show you a few options using a 2D floor plan. We’ll also put together a moodboard to capture the atmosphere and style we envision. This is a great moment to make sure we’re on the same page and fully aligned with your ideas. And of course, there’s plenty of room for questions and tweaks.
Presenting the Final Design
Once we’ve received your feedback, we refine the design into a final plan. We’ll then come back to present it to you in person, bringing all the real materials with us. This helps you see and feel the design, making it much easier to imagine your future space. We’ll walk you through everything step by step, so no detail is overlooked and you feel confident about the plan. You’ll receive the interior design both digitally and as a printed copy. The final plan includes:

If you’d like, we can also expand the design to include a lighting plan (with or without fixture suggestions) and custom drawings, for example for furniture pieces.
Every home is unique, so we don’t work with fixed prices. As a guide, projects usually fall between €1,000 and €3,000.

A thoughtful interior design is just the start of creating your dream space. That’s why we also guide you through the implementation stage. From gathering quotes and ordering furniture to styling every last detail, we make sure everything turns out exactly as planned.

During a brainstorming advice session, we’ll come to your home to look at your interior questions, ideas, and any challenges you’re facing. For two hours, we’ll be there to think along with you, and you can ask us anything.
We provide guidance on layout, colors, furniture, and other possibilities. We’ll show examples, explain why we make certain choices, and highlight the details we focus on when designing your ideal interior.
After the session, you’ll receive a summary of everything we discussed.
